HOW TO FAST

WHAT IS FASTING...

2 Chronicles 2:14 says, "If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land." God's people must humble themselves in order for God to begin to work in their lives and nation.

Biblically speaking humbling ourselves is directly related to fasting. In Psalm 35:13 David says, "I humbled myself with fasting" and in Psalm 69:10 it says, "When I wept and humbled my soul with fasting." Fasting literally means to cover one's mouth.

With fasting and prayer we get built up in our spirits because we are saying, "God, you are most important in my life. James 4:8 says, "Draw near to God and he will draw near to you." As you draw near to God during these 21 Days you can fully expect God to honor his word by coming near to you.

HOW CAN I FAST...

Complete Fast

This fast involves abstaining from eating and limiting drinking to only water, coffee, tea and fruit/vegetable juices for the entire 21 days.

Selective Fast

This type of fast is similar to the complete fast but is limited to select days during the 21 day period. For example, you may choose to fast Mondays and Wednesdays, or Tuesdays through Thursdays each week.

Partial Fast

This fast involves abstaining from eating any type of food in the morning or afternoon. Typically, this means fasting from 6am to 6pm each day, and then eating dinner. This is an excellent fast to begin with if you have never fasted before, or for those who are laborers in the oil & gas industry or construction industry.
